CP & Co Junior RacesCP & Co Junior Races

Introduction

2012 will see the return of the Junior Run with new sponsors CP & CO. Last year saw over 350 children from P1 - P7 race around the course within the grounds at Garioch Sports Centre. This year we are hoping to increase the numbers entering the Junior Run and to kick things off Active Schools will be running a "Run for Fun" club in preparation for the big event. The Start

The CP&Co Junior Races start at 10:00 on Sunday 18th March 2012

  • 9:00-9:20 Registration
  • 9:30 Warm up (within main Games Hall)
  • 9:50 Line up
  • 10:00 CAT 1 Race start
  • 10:05 CAT 2 Race start
  • 10:10 CAT 3 Race start

Please ensure you arrive in good time and go straight to the Games Hall to collect your race pack. The children will then be lined up into their category for the race. They will complete a warm up before being lead out to the start line. The finish line is located at the end of the top car park where they will come through the finish gantry and be presented with their medal. The children will then be kept in a holding pen where parents can collect them.

In the event you are unable to find your child, please go straight to the Leisure Mobile situated at the finish line and they will put out a message over the PA system.

How to Enter

Places for the CP&Co. Junior Run are limited and in 2011 registration closed 3-4 weeks prior to the race due us reaching maximum numbers. This year be sure to register early so that you can enjoy this fantastic race.

To check and make sure your name is on the start list please check the entry list.

General Information

Registration will take place in the Games Hall within the GSC. It will start at 9am and close at 9:20am. However parents are strongly urge to collect entry packs and register before the day of the race. Entry packs can be picked up from GSC from Monday the 12th March until Saturday at 5pm. All other packs will be available on the day of the race at 9am.


T-shirts, race numbers and chips will be issued in your entry pack. If you collect this on the morning of the race, please ensure you arrive in good time as registration will close promptly at 9:20am.
If you pick the pack up before the morning of the race, please insure your child has all the items ie race number, chip and t-shirt.

The warm up will start at 9:30am in the Junior Race assembly area situated in the main Games Hall. It is requested that parents direct their children to this area where they will then be looked after by senior academy pupils. Unfortunately due to H & S parents will not be permitted in this area. The children will be led out to the start line by senior pupils and volunteers who will also accompany them around the course routes. There will be an area at the finish line where parents can watch children coming over the finish line into a pen where they will be kept until collected. Senior pupils and volunteers will be present in this area however will take no responsibility for children who leave the area without an accompanied adult. Therefore for younger children we suggest you instruct your child to wait within this area until you come to collect them.

Entry and exit to this holding area is via the play park at the back of the results caravan. Please wait at the other side of the railings. Children will be waiting in their category groups which will be clearly signposted.

Presentation

Certificates will be presented to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd girl and boy in each of the three age groups: CAT 1 (4, 5, 6), CAT 2 (7, 8, 9), CAT 3 (10, 11, 12).

The three fastest girls and boys will be identified immediately after each race and given their ceritificates in the holding pen by a representative of the Junior Races sponsor, CP&Co. There will penty of time for a photo too!

Kilometre Markers

There will be ascending kilometre marks on the course.
