Car Parking

It will not be possible to park at the Sports Centre on Race Day. We encourage everyone to walk to the Sports Centre if possible, as part of their warm-up for the event. Otherwise, participants and spectators should leave their cars at Gordon House (Blackhall Road), Strathburn School or at another on-street location. Please see the local area map above for further information.

Medical Support

Paramedics from the Scottish Ambulance Service and first aiders from the St Andrews Ambulance Association will be available opposite the finish line. Medical personnel will also be in attendance along the route and at the finish area to treat sports injuries.

The First Aid room in the Garoch Sports Centre will be Changing Room 7.

If you feel unwell during the race, please inform the closest available marshal. He or she will inform the medical support team so that they can assist appropriately.

Toilets

Toilets are available in the reception area and beside the changing rooms in the Sports Centre.

Lost Property

Enquiries regarding lost property will be handled from the public address point in the Leisuremobile.

Information

Queries and information about the races will be dealt with at reception in the Sports Centre.

Extremes of Weather

Please ensure you are properly hydrated and come prepared for the extremes of weather. It may be very warm and sunny, requiring sun cream or conversely very cold and wet requiring warm and dry clothing.

If the race needs to be cancelled on the day for any reason, the decision will be announced on this website and Facebook by 9am on Race Day.

Course Marshals

Air Cadets from Aberdeen & North East Scotland Wing of the Air Training Corps and local volunteers will act as marshals on Sunday. If you have the opportunity, please thank them individually for their efforts. We would like to record our thanks for their important contribution.

If you don't plan on running the race this year, but would like to particpate in the event in another way, please consider becoming a marshal. Drop us a line at rungarioch@gariochsports.co.uk.

Race Pack

The pack will contain your race number, four pins, a Timing Chip complete with instructions and an event programme.

Your Race Number: Fasten your number securely to the front of your t-shirt using four pins – one at each corner. Please complete the details on the back of your race number. It is a race requirement that your number be visible at all times. Please also run with your own number, and not somebody else's!

Important: Please write in ballpoint pen on the back of your number any medical condition that may be relevant on the day and any special treatment required to assist the medical staff should you encounter any difficulties.

Doctor's Advice

If you have not undertaken an exercise programme before, you are strongly advised to consult your doctor for a check-up. Don’t have any alcohol the night before the race. Alcohol causes dehydration – and that's not a good idea before a race!

If you are not feeling fully fit on the day of the race, please do not run. There will always be next year!

Baggage

You can leave your baggage with your parents or friends, or deposit it in the lockers in Changing Rooms 1 and 2. The lockers take 20p pieces, and are non-refundable.

Showers

Showers are available in Changing Rooms 1 and 2. Please bring your own towel and toiletries. There will be no charge for using the showers for race participants.

The Finish

Please ensure you run under the finish line gantry and through the funnel to record your final time. The end of the race is under the gantry, not at the mats placed 20m in front. Exit the funnel to receive your water, medal and t-shirt. You can then exit the finish area and rejoin your family and friends.
